Florida quintet, Mayday Parade, will release their new single, ‘Anywhere But Here’ via Atlantic Records on September 20, and fresh new album (of the same name) on September 27. The band have also announced they will hit the UK shores this autumn for a co-headline tour with Arizonian pop-punk group, The Maine, which kicks off in Birmingham on September 30, including a London date at Islington Academy on October 8.
Formed in 2005, Mayday Parade have proved themselves to be a conscientious quintet: they have toured with many prominent bands across the US (All Time Low, The Academy Is…, Set Your Goals, Youmeatsix to name a few) and have become a staple act on the prestigious Vans Warped Tour.
2007 saw the release of Mayday Parade’s debut album ‘A Lesson In Romantics’ which set the tone for their bouncy pop-punk sound, selling over a staggering 100,000 copies in the US alone. The band released their largely autobiographical second studio album ‘Anywhere But Here’ in the US a year later – produced by the acclaimed David Bendeth (Paramore, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Underoath), the album debuted at #31 on the Billboard Top 200 and enjoyed huge support from US radio. Singer, Derek Sanders, says of the release – “We really just wanted to follow our own path on this record and not worry about if we fit in anywhere…the songs are much more structured than we’ve done in the past.”
Mayday first graced the UK in 2008, playing on the Give It A Name festival alongside the likes of Paramore and All Time Low. In April 2010, the band returned to the UK in support of Madina Lake on their nationwide tour. The band’s rapturously received return led to a fantastic write-up in Kerrang! magazine – “Mayday Parade get a full house to show off to and do so in a blur of energy and flailing guitars…”
