The ex-industrial margins of the far-East End have a new hope. An imagination that pulled 3 million Youtube views towards it. A voice that started on Rinse FM aged 13 and has reached the tipping point. 2010 is 21-year-old Devlin’s time.
He’s the cinematic storyteller with the febrile brain but also the conscience rapper with a complex soul, mixing youthful bravado with social realism. He toys with imagery expertly; from science, art and algebra to Elvis and the Boston Strangler, with the wryest, rhythmical jokes.
On Thursday 28th October he’ll be debuting his all-new live band show to support forthcoming future classic ‘bud, sweat & beers’ – a musical and lyrical state-of-the-art landmark, Devlin’s worldview beamed through the prism of pioneering producers and beguiling female vocalists, including Lewi White, Naughty Boy, Future Cut and Yasmin.
The Underworld show will be the first outing for his full live band and expect special guest appearances from Devlin’s extended musical family. The legendary rock venue is set to resonate to the sounds of an artist whose lyrical content transcends scenes.
