Joe's Gay

So, pop’s worst kept secret has been revealed… Joe McElderry’s gay. He said the “turning point” had come after his Twitter account had been hacked with messages claiming to “out him” and he decided to end what he described as “speculation in the past.”

He also said: “Over the past few weeks I have really had time to reflect and to realise who I am.” He added; “It's also been a time of real self-realisation and I feel as if I have grown up so much in these few months.”
I’m not the only one that thought the announcement was slightly on the pointless side. Professor Green tweeted “So Joe McElderry admitted he's gay… I'd just like to admit to everyone that I'm white.”

I do enjoy a really obvious press statement though, which Joe followed up with two interviews with tabloid newspapers about his decision to make his sexuality public.

At the end of the day though, does it really matter anymore? Do we really care who in the world of celebrity is gay, who’s straight and who swings both ways? Does that really have any bearing on how talented we think they are or how much we enjoy the music they produce? Is anyone going to immediately throw out their copy of Joe McElderry’s Miley Cyrus cover just because he’s come out? You shouldn’t have bought it in the first place… it’s awful!!

Ah well, rant over… on the site this week we have interviews with I Dream In Colour and Example, new videos from Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. and The Charlatans, plus competitions to win Limited Edition Mark Ronson 12” vinyl and a Billionaire Boys Club t-shirt. As if that’s not enough The Brute Chorus, Elliot Minor, Rachael Sage and Roachford are all out and about in a city near you.
