Lo-Fi-Fnk Return With New Single

Very much at the forefront of an era that saw indie and disco join hands and take to the dance floor, Lo-Fi-Fnk hit the zeitgeist with their debut album BoyLife – a life affirming confection of killer melodies, shonky beats and clever lyrics.

Giving their signature sound some added spit and polish Lo-Fi-Fnk return with two unstoppably glittery, escapist dance jams on their forthcoming single for Moshi Moshi released on September 20th.

On the slow-jam disco of lead track Sleepless, contemporary electro combines with ‘90s Ibiza warehouse to blissful effect. Despite an evocative piano break, the combo of bright melodies and shiny synths keeps it the right side of nostalgic.

On the flip side, Layin’ Lo showcases Lo-Fi-Fnk’s finely tuned indie sensibilities. Catchy choruses and a grooving, laidback rhythm section make the sunburst synths all that much joyous when they kick in.

In an era when electro is closely tied to fashion Lo-Fi-Fnk’s carefree delivery is a welcome antithesis. It takes the parallel rise of Balearic-feeling dance as a worthy alternative to the electro blog-house aesthetic and turns it into well-constructed pop. Whatever you call it, there’s an abundance of gleaming surfaces too rapturously enticing to entertain qualms about superficiality, making Sleepless both en vogue and timeless.
