London’s contemporary music fans and new music supporters Red Stripe reunite for a very special festival warm-up show at Cargo, London on Saturday July 17th 2010.
Headlining this fourth STRIPE night will be Texas’s The Strange Boys, performing a special Saturday night show before playing on the main stage at Latitude Festival.
The band found acclaim across in the UK in late 2009, when their single ‘Be Brave’, taken from the album of the same name, landed plays across national radio. The record, coming out through Rough Trade, was championed as a breakthrough for a new wave of rockabilly, the band even being invited to play a showcase gig for Uncut Magazine this June. The bands sound, a sultry, 60’s soulful scowl, is matched by support acts Spectrals, who having recently found themselves supporting Frankie and the Heartstrings and being talk of British new music festivals, also fall in a new camp of rock ‘n’ roll.
Joining them, and continuing their Red Stripe Music Award winning streak, is the laurel Collective. They appear at STRIPE just hours after playing London’s Lovebox festival, and off the back of performances at the Great Escape and Blissfields festival.
Colours and a host of DJ’s complete the biggest night yet for STRIPE, a club night aimed at those whose ear is set firmly to the moshpit floor.
Tickets are £7.50 (advance) from TKTDROP (link below).
For over 80 years Red Stripe Lager has embodied the long, rich history of Jamaica, its music and DIY culture. Over the last three-and-a-half decades, the beer has become inherent with good UK music and a spirit of rebellion. Its association with music was cemented in the UK in the late seventies, by the emergence of reggae, punk and ska. STRIPE’ is an extension of this and opens its doors to all that challenges, thrills and borders on the next big thing.
