Sleigh Bells are set to release their debut album in the UK, ‘Treats’, on Columbia/Mom+Pop Music on 9th August 2010.
Made up of Alexis Krauss and Derek Miller, ‘Treats’ will establish this Brooklyn duo as one of the most talked about bands of 2010. Having created an incredible buzz online with incendiary tracks such as ‘Crown On The Ground’ and ‘Tell ‘Em’, Sleigh Bells have been touring, playing blistering live shows that marry pop hooks with hip-hop-inflected beats and extreme noise to the point of distortion. They came away from CMJ as one of the most talked about acts at the end of 2009.
Delivered with almost chaotic energy and brutality, they blend the pop and the hardcore and make something distinctively now. ‘Treats’ opens with the scatter shot opening of ‘Tell Em’. Through the searing guitar attack of ‘Infinity Guitars’, and onto ‘Rill Rill’’s chiming looped beat built around Alexis beautiful vocal, this is an album that reveals an incredible depth of talent. The incendiary ‘Crown On The Ground’ drops beats as bombs and the overpowered guitars of ‘A/B Machines’ make for a beautiful noise. After that it’s all left for ‘Treats’ to bring one of the most distinctive and remarkable debut albums of the year to a close.
