Wickerman Festival DJ Of The Year Competition

It’s been a hugely exciting time for Skiddle.com, as they enter into their 9th year of operation as The UK What’s On Guide, carrying information on clubs, gigs, hotels and restaurants right across the country.
But not content with providing incredible content for the UK and beyond, the team at Skiddle HQ are again programming part of the ever growing electronic side of The Wickerman Festival after last year’s huge success.
They are shortly due to announce the 2010 Bass Camp Dance Village’s first guests, but before that Skiddle are also launching their fantastic competition to find the Resident DJ of the Year in association with UK management agency Connected DJs.

Rich Dyer from Skiddle explains:
“We wanted to do something a bit different so have put together this amazing comp for any DJ who thinks they have got what it takes to enter. We have also decided to mix it up a bit away from the usual bedroom comp, so entrants need to hold a club residency. We’re really hoping to find some budding stars who are already out there, playing clubs and who want to go to the next level; we’re looking for the resident DJ of the year!”

As well as been crowned Resident DJ of the year, the winners will receive a 3 stage prize in conjunction with prestigious UK agency, Connected DJ and Artist Management.

Connected DJs have nurtured and developed some of the industries leading names including Gareth Emery, Above and Beyond, Andy Moor, The Thrillseekers, Lange and Martin Roth.

Stage one of the prize will involve an exclusive management consultation with Connected DJs to discuss career development, and the stages and processes involved in moving forward in the music industry.

The second part of the prize is a ‘Marketing Master Class’ with house music starlet, and Wickerman hero, Sonny Wharton. DJ Mag stated, “What makes Sonny stand out from the pack is his combination of talent and determination”. In this master class, Sonny offers a wealth of priceless experience that will involve how to promote yourself as a DJ and producer, and develop your unique selling points.

Furthermore as part of the prize, the Winner will receive a studio tutorial session with Connected rising star, Ant Brooks. Ant has released on labels such as Defected, Cr2, Toolroom Records and Steve Angelo’s Size Recordings and is undoubtedly one of house music’s future stars.

“Wickerman is one of the unsung festivals in the UK so it’s a great part of the prize to be able to play there for the finalists as well as everything else. It’s in a truly stunning Scottish setting and brings together some great live acts along with our DJs across two days and many arenas.”

The ninth instalment of The Wickerman, set over Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th July, presents not only a tantalising array of live acts but also the spectacular dance music side of the festival including Radio 1’s Fabio, Murkage Cartel and many more.
