Heading up the DJ venue at the Brick Lane Takeover (BLT), taking place on 17 June, is the mighty DJ Format with his explosive cocktail of inspired 80's & 90's hip hop with a good dose of late 60's early 70's funk, rock, jazz thrown in the mix. While Midfield General [DJ] will be mixing up leftfield pop, hip hop, cinematic epics, house, techno and soul.
Also playing will be favorites, Blonde Ambition [DJ's], with their excitable gyrations and funky fresh mixes. The final few bands to show their support are Tubelord with their breakneck pop, anvil-heavy riffs and super-infectious music and Sound of Guns, a five piece Liverpudlian band playing eclectic and raw rock.
Completing this year's already stellar bill of the best new talent around are Jamie Ley, King Jim and Lost on Campus.
XFM's John Kennedy and BLT curator said, “It's great to see a charity reaching people with music – Macmillan's Brick Lane Takeover has very quickly established itself as the place to see some of the best up and coming bands just as they break. I've really loved working on this event as curator and I know the bands on the night will not disappoint.”
Headliner Eliza Doolittle said, “I'm so excited to play at this year's Brick Lane Takeover for Macmillan Cancer Support, it's a really great, very intimate setting and Brick Lane's going to be buzzing with all the amazing new talent performing.”
