The Rolling Stones are back on top

The Rolling Stones have smashed their way to number 1 this week with their re-mastered, re-released version of 1972's 'Exile on Main Street'

This victory for the heavily promoted re-release left Faithless' new release 'The Dance' trailing in second place in the official album charts.

The (sort of) new double album has been re-issued with previously unheard tracks & digitally re-mastered for your listening pleasure! It has also been hailed as the definitive 'Stones album, which has no doubt contributed to its chart surge, as it is bought by its original fans and new generations of music lovers alike.

David Joseph, of Universal Music UK, said: “It's quite a result for an album from 1972 to be back at number one. It proves the Stones's music is as powerful today as when it was created.”

.. although some might say sending an album to number 1 twice is just chuffin' greedy… others might say the 'stones are rightfully reminding the 'TV Talent Show generation' how it's done!
