The Futureheads Release I Can Do That

It has been a reliably explosive return for The Futureheads in 2010 with a near perfect critical response to new LP ‘The Chaos’, independently released through their own Nul Records label in April 2010. Having introduced their return at the turn of the year with the Radio 1 A-Listed first single, ‘Heartbeat Song’, it heralded yet another fine chapter of this ongoing magical Mackem story.

Currently embarking on an American tour following a whistle-stop gig in Dubai, and a fully sold-out, rapturously received British tour, The Futureheads have never shirked the importance of gruelling hard-work to achieve, and its rewards continue to be reaped a decade since their very first live shows.

‘The Chaos’ marked a harder edged sound to its predecessors, but no less melodic. Featuring the four piece’s exquisite four-part harmonies, and wanton heavyweight choruses, it is also a sound that crunched with a band that means business. Fronted by the thunderous, eccentric spirit of Barry Hyde, those new songs drive, punch and pogo through rockier riffs yet never relenting on their favoured pop note. ‘I Can Do That’ is a perfect example of what The Futureheads manage to do so well.

As a British guitar band carrying a very raw and energised message, and as a British guitar band that continually writes catchy rock songs that unite a broad audience, The Futureheads are the type of band that are few and far between.

They’ve been ticking all the right boxes since 2000, and where the rough aesthetics of DIY meets the mainstream, The Futureheads are all but a national treasure.
