Repeating the huge success of last year’s inaugural Serpentine Sessions, the three shows will return on 28 June with headliners Grizzly Bear, Patti Smith and her band on 29 June and 1 July with Laura Marling. Support will come from Efterklang, Fionn Regan, Dawn Kinnard, The Boy Who Trapped the Sun and Eliza Doolittle, Fanfarlo, Peggy Sue, Smoke Fairies and Alessi’s Ark.
Main support for the opening night of Serpentine Sessions on 28 June will come from the Danish indie pop-rock outfit Efterklang. They have recently released their third studio album ‘Magic Chairs’ on the well respected British label 4AD and have received wide critical acclaim. Hailing from Copenhagen this group makes great pop music and their new approach to song writing and recording has brought their instinctive tunefulness to the fore.
Taking to the main stage on 29 June supporting world-renowned punk rock poet laureate Patti Smith and her band will be Irish singer-songwriter and Mercury-nominated Fionn Regan, offering a perfect warm up with his electric rock sound. The acoustic stage will see the distinctly unique Dawn Kinnard bring her hugely charismatic presence to the summer line-up alongside the genuine guitar talent of The Boy Who Trapped the Sun and the hotly tipped Eliza Doolittle, who will be showcasing her undeniably sunny melodies in a truly ideal setting on the acoustic stage on 29 June.
Folk songstress Laura Marling is set to headline the final night of Serpentine Sessions on 1 July with main support coming from London-based quintet Fanfarlo, renowned for their eclectic instrumentation they fuse elements of folk, indie rock and post punk in perfect combination. Confirmed for the acoustic stage will be Brighton based indie folk band Peggy Sue, dark, lustful blues-folk in the shape of the Smoke Fairies and singer-songwriter Alessi’s Ark, a scorching trio for a special summer night at the Serpentine Sessions.
