Ash Cloud Chaos

With the volcanic ash cloud threatening to keep my family on holiday it got me thinking… why didn’t I go with them?! Other than that though, if the volcano continues erupting what effect will it have on this summer’s festivals?

Last time the UK was enveloped in the cloud tours were postponed and cancelled left, right and centre. UK bands couldn’t travel abroad, foreign bands couldn’t get in to the country and we even kept some hostage after their tours had finished.

So what if the ash situation does get worse? Do you think festival organisers have contingency plans in place? Take Saturday’s Main Stage line up at Leeds Festival for example, if flights can’t land in the UK, that’s eight of the nine acts pretty much wiped off the festival… are You Me At Six just going to play for hours on end to make up for the rest of the bands? They better start learning some Cypress Hill covers, just in case!!

Anyway, in between checking what flights have been cancelled there’s loads of good stuff on the site this week! We have interviews galore with Gogol Bordello, The Swellers, Anarbor and The Dangerous Summer and opportunities to win We Have Band t-shirts, tickets to Our Friends Acoustic and The Hungry Pigeon Festival. Plus, Kof in Manchester, Tinchy Stryder in Liverpool and Black Mountain and Hip Parade in London.
