Sean Rowe Releases Magic

Hailing from Albany New York, Sean Rowe’s songs are compelling, raw and lyrical. On his debut album “Magic”, this lyricism is set against an intimate and melodic musical backdrop creating a sound as haunting as it is timeless. And there is that voice..

“Magic”, which was released in the US late 2009, contains 10 songs that showcase a rare depth of songwriting and a deep, rasping vocal which has been compared to Leonard Cohen. The broader themes of nostalgia, deception, and love on tracks like “Surprise”,“Time To Think”, “The Long Haul” sit side by side with brutally honest stories about everyday life;
“Jonathan” for example is a frightening account of a fatal car crash, and in “Wet” Rowe contemplates unconditional love in a backdrop of domestic violence. Some of the most powerful moments on the album come when Rowe combines real themes with spiritual imagery to vivid effect, as in “American” and “The Walker”.

In late 2009, Sean Rowe came to the attention of UK band Noah And The Whale. Sean supported Noah on the UK tour to rave reviews, leading to a UK record deal. 2010 is shaping up to be busier still; a UK release for “Magic” in May (Republic Of Music) will be supported by live dates which will be announced soon.
