Wheatus are back and commemorate their 10th Anniversary with a UK tour. The Northport, New York-based band is celebrating 10 years since the release of their debut album ‘Wheatus’. The album’s lead single ‘Teenage Dirtbag’ scored the band a Number 2 chart position in the UK and a Number 1 hit in Australia. Their next single, a cover of Erasure’s ‘A Little Respect’, also secured them Top 5 status, with their brilliant re-working of the track peaking at Number 3.
Since 2000, Wheatus have released four studio albums all of which have been available on their website on a pay-what-you-want pricing scheme. The five-piece have also released non-album singles such as ‘Change The World (Black Precedent)’ featuring MC Lars during the 2008 US Presidential Election.
Brendan B. Brown can’t wait to get over to this side of the pond and has this message for the UK; “It’s been nearly ten years since ‘Teenage Dirtbag’ was released. You were the first people on earth to completely embrace Wheatus, and when you did that, you gave me a career in music, rescuing me from my fate as a printer repair technician. Anyway, you helped start this nonsense, so come down and celebrate 10 years of the most unlikely story with us. Help us write the end… and the beginning of the next one. See you in June!”
