Money can’t buy you friends but talent in abundance seems to do the trick… These guys now have tons of them, many of whom have now found themselves in the studio with CROOKERS lately. Take Soulwax, Bot and Phra aka Crookers paid their Ghent studio a visit and spent 3 days playing around with the vast collection of analogue synths. The outcome was “We Love Animals”, one of the freshest sounding dancefloor anthems this year!
Soulwax and Crookers then sent the track to Mixhell, Igor Cavalera’s (of Sepultura fame) new dance act. After switching up the drums and adding some vocals, the result was the opening track from the Crookers album and the next single from ‘Tons Of Friends’.
The album is clearly a bit of departure from the ear-drum brutality of their dance-floor classics ‘Knobbers’ or ‘Sveglia’ but this collaboration with the mighty Soulwax is most definitely intended for dancefloor domination.
Remixes come strong… a classic rework club from fellow Italian duo Keith & Supabeatz, Crookers have been killing this in their DJ sets recently. Two super cool mixes from The Love Supreme, plus classy mixes from Nic Sarno and Tom Staar.
Crookers aptly titled debut album ‘Tons of Friends’ also features the likes of Kelis, Will.i.am, Yelle, Rye Rye, Pitbull, Miike Snow, Tim Burgess, Roisin Murphy and is out now.
