Celebrating five full-on years of fantastic live music and consistently strong line-ups, Ibiza Rocks 2010 boasts its most impressive bill to date. Biffy Clyro will provide the coolest start to one seriously hot summer when they kick off the proceedings along with Bombay Bicycle Club at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel on 8 June.
Biffy Clyro have become a huge success story in the UK and beyond, finely tuning their sound and now topping festival bills galore. The time is right for them to hit the White Isle on 8 June and the Scottish rockers promise to do it in style.
Taking on the inaugural honour of playing the Balearic hot spots Mallorca and Ibiza Rocks back to back are North London’s Bombay Bicycle Club. Having released their debut album ‘I had the Blues but Shook Them Loose’ iast year, 2010 is already shaping up to be knockout year for the band. Not only have they picked up the award for Best New Band at the NME Awards 2010 but the foursome will be basking in sunshine as they performing at the opening of the Mallorca Rocks Hotel on 6 June, before flying straight into Ibiza to kick start Ibiza Rock’s stellar summer season on 8 June.
In 2005, when they were music stars in the making and Ibiza Rocks was being held in the back room of the world’s most famous club, Manumission, Maximo Park and Ibiza Rocks took a chance on each other and the magic was made. It was a ‘moment’ that was to change Ibiza’s music scene forever and now Maximo Park will return, five years on, for what is sure to be the most emotional and celebratory set of the season on 13 July. Support comes in the form of the eccentrically talented Kissy Sell Out who will take to the decks for Maximo Park as well as Florence & the Machine.
London lads Chase & Status are arguably the current heavyweights of the Drum ‘n’ Bass scene. They quite literally gave ‘More Than A Lot’ with their musical feast of an album last year, which spawned three No.1’s in the UK Dance Chart and catapulted them into the mainstream music scene. Last year, they were stars of the show at Reclaim the Dancefloor! and had their first Top 10 hit with ‘End Credits’ featuring Plan B. The dynamic duo has a production credit on Rihanna’s new album after being approached by the good lady herself. Chase & Status are champions of the new British music scene that is continually celebrated by Ibiza Rocks. Welcome back boys.
Chase & Status said: ‘We’ve played Ibiza as DJs before and the crowds have been amazing, but this will be our first live show in Ibiza so we’re expecting carnage!’
Another bright star taking the charts, airwaves and blogs by storm is Tinie Tempah. The London born MC hasn’t even released his debut album yet but he’s already sailed into the singles charts, going straight to the No.1 spot for four weeks with massive hit ‘Pass Out’ and was included in MTV’s ’10 for 2010’ – the biggest acts to break this year. Tinie Tempah is the perfect opening to this big Ibiza Rocks show on 3 August.
Tinie Tempah said: ‘ I cannot wait to come & Disturb Ibiza Rocks! It'll be my first time in Ibiza and I’ve heard its absolute pandemonium! I'm putting a special set together specifically for Ibiza rocks, I’m going to make sure the crowd have the experience of a lifetime.’
