In just four weeks time Liverpool Sound City takes over with four days of music madness from 19-22 May, attracting over 35,000 music lovers from across the UK and further afield which add millions to the city’s hotel, leisure and retail economy. A remarkable 2000 local and International bands have applied to play and take part in the city’s music festival which has been reduced with difficultly to just over 400 bands.
In just 3 years Liverpool Sound City has seen growth and significant interest to become one of the most sought after music festivals in the world today. Bands now want to come into Liverpool to play in front of a world class music business audience that consists of some of the key players from the international music business that have the ability to offer them recording, sponsorship or publishing deals that can change their lives. As well as playing in front of amazing Liverpool audiences.
Festival Director, David Pichilingi states “As part of our policy for offering real opportunities from artists from Merseyside and the NW we have offered a chance to play for over 100 bands from the region. These also include a number of bands aged 14+ through an initiative that has been put together by our partners Creative Ideas In Action.”
The International line-up is bigger than ever with Pony Pony Run Run (France), Naive New Beaters (France), Oh No Ono (Denmark), The Hickey Underworld (Belgium), Philadelphia Grand Jury (Australia), TeenagersInTokyo (Australia), Wax Fang (USA), White Hinterland (USA), Titus Andronicus (USA), Ganglians (USA), Crocodiles (USA), Sleigh Bells (USA), Free Energy (USA), Fun (USA), Baby Monster (USA), Chilly Gonzales (Canada), Holy Fu*k (Canada), (Mother Mother (Canada), Lights (Canada) and Kae Sun (Canada) all playing in the city venues.
Liverpool Sound City has always kept its commitment to showcase the best local talent too with over 100 local bands involved in this year’s amongst them and just announced are those taking part at the Static Gallery gig to form the Jade Wright stage, the music editor of the city’s daily newspaper the Liverpool Echo, those taking part are The Sand Band, Picture Book, The Red Suns and Richard O'flynn.

35,000 revellers are expected to attend Liverpool Sound City in May, it’s the wristband holders that create the energy and spirit of the music festival on the streets and venues of the city.
