Underage and Liverpool Sound City Team Up

Liverpool Sound City music festival are delighted to partner with the Underage Festival, organisers of the World's first strictly 14 to under 18's credible music festival which takes place annually in London. The Maccabees will headline a matinee gig in Liverpool as part of the citywide festival.

This is the first time Underage have ever ventured out of London and is a bold statement of unity from two of the most cutting edge events in the UK. The Maccabees will be playing a matinee gig strictly for teenagers aged between and including 14-18 years of age at Liverpool’s 02 Academy on the Saturday 22nd May, no parents or guardians are allowed in the venue which will be a safe alcohol free environment with extra stewarding and security on site replicating the set-up and safe environment of the London festival.

The Maccabees have two sterling albums under their belt including last year’s “Wall of Arms” they also recently collaborated with Roots Manuva and are at the forefront of the new British music movement as they headline this years’ Shockwaves NME Awards tour.

Joining the Maccabee’s on stage is Cardiff based 7 piece indie poppers Los Campesinos! and London trio Is Tropical.

The live line up for Sound City continues to grow, with week’s announcements on Thursday 19 May is Wax Fang playing the Zanzibar, Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster at the Krazyhouse and The Delta Fiasco at Korova. On 20th May Eugene McGuiness & The Lizards at the Zanzibar and Daisy Dares You at Korova. Another Matinee show The Blackout “Glow Stick Party” takes place at the Masque theatre on Sat 22nd May for all ages. Also on the final day of the festival is Fionn Regan at Static Gallery, Beth Jeans Houghton at Studio 2 and Sound of Guns at the Kazimier.
