The newly expanded Lovebox festival has confirmed yet more exciting acts to its already packed line-up, with Paloma Faith, Yeasayer, The Mystery Jets, Tim Westwood, Holy Ghost and TinaShe joining the sensational bill. Taking place over three days from the 16th-18th July London’s premier festival will return to Victoria Park this summer, bigger and better than ever before.
The all-new Friday night will showcase the best in pop and dance with British indie favorites the Mystery Jets and pop newcomer TinaShe joining headliners The Maccabees on the Gaymer’s stage. Already confirmed for the main stage are Ellie Goulding and pop trio the Noisettes, whilst hip-hop impresario Dizzee Rascal and newcomers Chase and Status top the bill.
Friday will also play host to some of the hippest names on the dance music scene, with Italian DJ duo Crookers, superstar club DJ’s Brodinski and Sinden and Riva Starr, already announced. The NYC Downlow will be making an eagerly-anticipated return for 2010 with Zinc and Dynamite MC, Toddla T, MJ Cole, and Joy Orbison keeping things mighty real.
Renowned for her theatrical performances, soulful songstress Paloma Faith will be returning to her East-End roots to join the Saturday night bill. She’ll be adding her quirky set to a main stage line-up that already boasts of legendary art-rock pioneers Roxy Music, uber producer Mark Ronson and the Business. Over on the Gaymers Stage the extraordinary Brooklyn based experimental rock band Yeasayer will support Empire of the Sun, who will be playing their first and only London show this summer. Yeasayer fans will be eagerly anticipating tracks from group’s critically-lauded new album, Odd Blood.
Lovebox are proud to announce that Europe’s most influential hip-hop DJ and Radio 1 legend , Tim Westwood, will be joining the Downlow bill on the Saturday night; whilst Padded Cell will be bringing one of their eclectic sets to the Relentless Energy Stage line-up. Already confirmed to play the Relentless Energy Stage are headliners Booka Shade along with Jesse Rose, Henrik Schwarz Live and Dixon (Innervisions).
This year also sees the exciting launch of Lovebox’s groundbreaking all-new Sunday, which blends the coolest music, emergent art, cutting edge fashion and more to create an all-inclusive polysexual event unlike any other.
Critically-heralded Brooklyn duo Holy Ghost will have the Gaymer’s stage crowd up and dancing when they join electro-funk outfit Chromeo, returning Aussie heroes Cut Copy and Hercules and Love Affair on the Sunday bill. Already confirmed for the main stage, which will be compéred by the incomparable Jonny Woo, are immortal music and style icon Grace Jones, electro-pop juggernauts Hot Chip, Peaches, Silver Columns, and newcomers Hurts.
Disco Bloodbath, Trailer Trash and Horse Meat Disco are just some of the DJ crews who will be hosting areas on the Sunday.
Alongside the show-stopping performances there will be another healthy dose of Lovebox's summer shenanigans; with the 40 acre site playing host to numerous other stages, performances and activities.
Gaymer's Cider returns this year with the Gaymers Stage and an entire orchard of surprises – an inspired wonderland built into the trees and gardens of Victoria Park including a tree house sprinkled with a bit of West Country magic… with more to be revealed at a later date.
The infamous NYC Downlow also returns to Lovebox for 2010 after a year’s hiatus. This life-size ruin of a NYC tenement will resurrect New York’s golden age and festival-goers can expect to enjoy an eclectic mix of disco, soul, funk and dance.
As well as offering a diverse music experience – the bustling food market, Sourced Market, returns again, serving up culinary treats direct from the best stalls at Borough and Broadway markets. There will also be a broad program of theatre, art and comedy for those wanting to take timeout from the music performances.
