The Return Of Murderdolls

Just when you thought all the fun was gone in rock….the inimitable MURDERDOLLS are BACK; middle fingers to the sky, tongue firmly in cheek and ready to call out today’s predictable musical landscape.

Their first album for eight years, titled ‘Women and Children Last,’ is currently being recorded in the Hollywood hills and is set for release this Summer through Roadrunner Records.

MURDERDOLLS is the frankenstein brainchild of Joey Jordison and partner-in-grime, Wednesday 13. The band sees Joey step from his day job and masked role behind the kit in Slipknot, to low slung lead guitar, whilst Wednesday plays frontman in their macabre rock n’ roll circus.

The duo are ready to breathe new life into the project with a brand new line-up, yet their ‘fuck you’ attitude, devilish glamour and trademark black sense of humour remain.

Joey and Wednesday are excited to bring back their revamped musical monster, exclaiming, “We don't look at this as a return…this is REVENGE! The music scene today is as boring and stale as it was in 2002, when we first formed the band. This time around, everyone is the enemy!”

MURDERDOLLS first gatecrashed the scene in 2002, hammering one final nail into nu-metal’s coffin and building a formidable fanbase of loyal ‘ghoulscouts’ with their breakthrough single, ‘Dead In Hollywood’ and twisted take on the Billy Idol anthem, ‘White Wedding’.

In the UK, the band caused a real stir, headlining the 5500 capacity Brixton Academy in the UK within 18 months of their arrival. Their debut album, ‘Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls’ romped out of stores, quickly racking up a silver certification (60K units shifted) and saw the band literally stopping traffic at an instore signing at the flagship Virgin Megastore in London’s famous Piccadilly. The band scribbled for two hours, inking CDs for around 800 kids, with a further 2000 kids being turned away. “That was a Beatles-type moment for sure,” remembers Wednesday. “Having an army of red and black clad, make-up smeared kids mobbing our van, almost tipping it over in rush hour traffic, was a real highlight in our career. It was like a scene from Dawn of Dead! Intense and scary, but to cause such a reaction was amazing. We loved every second. Our fans are the best.”

That same year, the band also picked up the ‘Best Newcomer’ award at the inaugural Metal Hammer ‘Golden Gods’ Awards. Expect a similar commotion and a few more accolades this time around.

Comments Joey, “We’ve waited 8 years to make sure, but this is the perfect time to bring MURDERDOLLS back to the world. We've got nothing to lose, and nothing to prove. So raise your fist along with us motherfuckers, and sorry if you get a bloody nose along the way. It’s about to get ugly!…”Women and Children Last”!!!”
