David Gray, in his only UK festival appearance this year, and legendary American rocker Jackson Browne have been confirmed as headline performers at the annual Cornbury Festival, held in Oxfordshire on 3-4 July 2010.
They are supported throughout the weekend by an impressive line up of acclaimed performers including Sex, Drugs & Rock & Roll bad boys The Blockheads and British pop band The Feeling. Soulful British pop trio Noisettes, Irish jazz sensation Imelda May and acoustic chart-topper Newton Faulkner are also confirmed in the exciting line up.
Dubbed “Poshstock”, the two-day Cornbury Festival offers a family-friendly chic-boutique festival experience showcasing an eclectic mix of legendary performers and up-and-coming raw talent. Famed for its glamour, charm and VIP comfort Cornbury Festival offers an intimate and civilised alternative to larger overcrowded festivals.
The two-day festival, now in its seventh year, is home to a distinctive mix of Pimms-drinking rockers, aristocrats, fashionistas and farmers who flock to the UK’s most historic festival site for the mix of fabulous food and fantastic music.
The Main Stage on Saturday July 3 is headlined by popular singer-songwriter David Gray, in his only UK festival appearance following the release of his acclaimed album in 2009, Draw the Line. Gray will share the Main Stage with live sets throughout the afternoon from influential New Wave rockers Squeeze, recent chart favourites Noisettes, fantastic blues guitarist and singer Buddy Guy and sassy pop rock indie chick Tiffany Page. Over on the Second Stage revellers will be treated to Imelda May, New Orleans legend Dr John, amazing gospel soul star Candi Staton, Lloyd Grossman’s band New Forbidden and a special rare performance with Kiki Dee and sensational soul band Staxs.
On Sunday July 4 the Main Stage is headlined by American rock legend Jackson Browne, who in May of this year will be releasing his fourteenth studio album. Browne is recognised as being one of the finest songwriters of his generation whose personal, social and political songs have earned him an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. Browne will be supported throughout the day by British indie pop band The Feeling, popular acoustic guitarist Newton Faulkner, the recently reunited rock band Reef and new wave pioneers The Blockheads. The Second Stage is headlined by the Bhangra drumming phenomenon Dohl Foundation, who share the stage throughout the day with Northumbrian smallpipes playing folk musician Kathryn Tickell and Fisherman’s Friends, a group of performing fishermen from Port Isaac.
Hugh Phillimore, founder and organiser of the Cornbury Festival, comments: “I’m thrilled with the line up for this year’s Cornbury Festival. I can’t wait to welcome David Gray and Jackson Browne to what I like to call my wonderful garden party.”
