The Answering Machine
Club Academy, Manchester
November 26th
All ages show with support from Post War Years and The Crookes.

After a triumphant 2009, The Answering Machine return to Manchester on November 26th to play a heroic hometown show at Club Academy. The year started with the band holed up in a remote Yorkshire farm recording their debut LP ‘Another City, Another Sorry’. The album received great reactions with the NME calling it a ‘fantastic debut’ with ‘perfect pop songs’. Once the record was finished, The Answering Machine hit the road and took their songs all over the UK. Having already toured with Bombay Bicycle Club and Casio Kids, the band were then hand picked to tour with the Manic Street Preachers including three nights at the Roundhouse in London. The band have also begun to make inroads in the US playing shows in LA, New York and at the Monolith Festival in Denver. Influential blog sites Brooklyn Vegan, Pop Tarts Suck Toasted and The Music Slut have been quick to recognise the band as one’s to watch.

Support for the evening has been handpicked by the band to make the night extra special. From London comes Post War Years. The band’s debut album ‘The Great And The Happenings’ was released this year to some excited press. Artrocker declared it ‘a breath taking debut’. The album is a spell binding array of samples and synths. It sounds like a band, very much together, working as one. On Post War Years the Answering Machine say “Since we picked up their EP at a charity gig 3 years ago we've been fans and followed their progress. We always want to play shows with bands we respect and admire and are honored that they are going to play this one off, very special event with us. Martin recently did a fantastic remix of their song 'Soul Owl'. Seeing Post War Years live is worth the entry fee alone.”

The Answering Machine also asked The Crookes to weave over snake pass to bring their acoustic harmonious indie pop music from Sheffield. Having already sold out a debut single on Too Pure, The Crookes are destined for great things in 2010. The Answering Machine have the following to say about the band “We took The Crookes on tour with us on our recent headline dates across the UK. They are such an amazing group that fuse elements of Doo-Wop, 50's Rock and Roll Ballads with The Libertines. It would be hard to think of a better live band that we've seen this year. From our first meeting with them in Bristol we just hit it off and they agreed that night that if we could pull a show together in Manchester that they'd come and play. “
Finally, long term fans and friends, Same Teens will be spinning some great tunes in between the bands. It simply wouldn’t be a party without Same Teens.

It promises to be an amazing night and the perfect way to end a spectacular year for The Answering Machine.
