French girl band Plastiscines have just finished filming a cameo appearance on cult American TV show Gossip Girl.
The NYLON-signed pop act will feature on 2 episodes of the hit series broadcast later this month in Season 3.
As one of the first signings of NYLON Records in the USA, appearances on Gossip Girl and recent support slots for Little Boots, you know Plastiscines are just going to work it. Prior to conquering the City of Angels, this all-girl ROCK band won over their native France, having received a commendation in Paris last year presented by Peter Doherty, along with the French Minister of Culture. But winning over their high-class home crowd was only the start. After writing their first international hit (“Loser”) in high school and playing sold-out shows across Europe while still teenagers, it was never going to be long before Katty (vocals), Marine (guitar), Anais (drums) Louise (bass) needed a few new continents to conquer.
‘Barcelona’ is a stylishly sexy, candy-punk T.U.N.E, produced by Butch Walker (Katy Perry, Pink, Avril Lavigne.) “Butch saw us playing Nancy Sinatra's 'These Boots Are Made For Walking' and immediately fell in love with us,” explains Anais of the origins of the garage-pop collaboration. The result is also the first time the girls have written the majority of their songs in English rather than French. “I have the impression English words sound more poetic,” explains Marine.Truthfully though, once filtered through Katty’s husky, yet honey-dipped tones, everything sounds pretty amazing.
‘Barcelona’ enjoys a full dance floor work out, with remixes served up by Lifelike, Headman, indie disco royalty Rory Philips and gameboy pop pioneers Utters. ‘Barcelona’ is the first single from Plastiscines album ‘About Love’ due out 2010.
