Energetic pop rock trio Apollo 101 are crash landing on the British music scene this autumn, and their effortlessly appealing and breathtakingly creative style is already turning heads and winning hearts…
The Norwich-based band is comprised of Josh Rayman and brothers Chris and Andy Walker. All three members have established musical backgrounds, having previously played in a myriad of bands both together and apart. Chris’s ability to write songs that are naturally relatable and catchy, alongside the layers of musical goodness brought to the mix by multi-instrumentalist Josh and drummer Andy, secures Apollo 101’s place as an act to watch in 2010. Since coming together earlier this year, the band have developed a strong and diverse sound, combining elements of contemporary pop rock with an eighties synth feel that makes for an immensely engaging and distinctive sound.
Their winning musical presence benefits from shamelessly catchy pop hooks alongside cues from the world of melodic rock, making comparisons with bands like Muse, Feeder, Bloc Party and The Maccabees quite natural. There’s a uniqueness about Apollo 101, however, that makes comparisons with other acts quite useless – you need to listen yourself to truly understand the character of this enigmatic ensemble.
After a myriad of electrifying live performances across the East of England including a breathtaking appearance at the esteemed Waterfront venue this month, Apollo 101 will release their debut single, ‘One More Chance’, on November 15th through Jigsaw House.
