Voting has begun in the Metro Newspaper and Island Records competition for the winner from the 5 regional finalists, with the prize being the fabulous opportunity to support V V Brown on her UK tour this November.
The winning band will also have their track recorded in a studio and then released digitally by Island Records.

Judging was carried out by an Island Records representative, a Barfly representative, 2 members of Shed Seven, a member of the public and they all judged Leeds artists L – MO as their regional winners in York recently.
The band performed 'Simple Living', a track taken from their debut album 'Got Gumption?', which is also set to be released as a single on November 30th.
Metro Newspaper MEmusic and Nissan QASHQAI have been searching for the hottest new music talent in the UK and the overall winning act of the national competition will, they stipulate, “need to have what it takes to perform alongside one of most exciting acts of the moment, V.V.Brown, and have the ability to wow audiences across the UK.”
The judges have been looking for real musicians with a flair for music and an act that has the potential to keep rolling out the hits.

L-Mo, winners of the Oct 09 York regional heat of MEmetro Music’s “online and on tour” competition to support VV Brown on tour, with voting for the winner at link, are a three-piece band based in Leeds, UK who play upbeat adrenaline fuelled acoustic mayhem to shake asses and spread smiles. Formed at the beginning of 2009, the guys have just finished recording their debut album 'Got Gumption?'. Following a string of successful live shows throughout the UK, the band members all took the decision that quitting their jobs to focus on writing, promoting and performing was the life for them.
With singer/songwriter Luke's original vocals and inventive guitar work combining with bass player Phil and drummer Evan's grounded yet creative rhythm section, L-Mo have been causing quite a stir throughout the UK. Renowned for their energetic and charismatic live performances, the band have created a truly original sound that is sure to tempt and enthral music fans the world over.
A 'Mo' is a mass of cells, packed full of a naturally occurring energy, this abundance keeps it constantly moving forward to better and brighter places. This rare species is native to Australia, America, England and Ireland. Recent sightings have been reported in the north of England in the city of Leeds.
They have been reported to travel by air, wind, sea and also by a custom eco-friendly longboard steam mobile. Rumours abound that the abstract mating calls are the most shocking of all its characteristics; some say the creature seems to sing for smiles, constantly crooning in the pursuit of happiness both for itself and others.
