Smoke Fairies, Katherine Blamire and Jessica Davies are pleased to announce they will be releasing the mesmerizing single 'Sunshine' on October 19th. Packaged as a limited 7″ the release follows the recent success of the Frozen Heart EP, which received critical acclaim across the board and gained fans at radio ranging from Rob Da Bank to Cerys Matthews.
A live favorite for some time, 'Sunshine' was recorded alongside a stella cast of musicians, drums came courtesy of Andy Newmark (John Lennon, David Bowie) double bass by Al Mobbs (Gorillaz etc) and Neil Walsh the girls' own viola player appears here too. David Coulter was again in the producer's chair (David is famed for his work on musical saw and with Tom Waits and Nick Cave and more recently as musical director).
Katherine and Jessica, first got together at school in Sussex, before decamping to New Orleans and Vancouver. Since returning to the UK they have started to get public and critical recognition for their unique, ethereal and hypnotic music.
After an already busy 2009 that has seen Smoke Fairies play Glastonbury, The Great Escape, Latitude and Camp Bestival, the girls have been invited to support Richard Hawley on his upcoming tour of the UK this Autumn. They have also gained a fan in the form of Jack White who invited (and personally introduced) them as the only support band for The Dead Weather's headline show at the HMV Kentish Town Forum.
Catch Smoke Fairies touring with Richard Hawley throughout October and don't miss their own headline show at the Borderline on the 19th of October.
