Liverpool Music Week Announce More Acts

We are pleased to announce Super Furry Animals to this years Liverpool Music Week festival. The Super Furry’s who will be performing at Nation on Thursday 5th November are the final big name act to be announced for this years festival, and will see them joining an array of world class artistes to form one of the biggest line ups the festival has produced since its inception in 2003. Other bands confirmed this years include Kasabian, The Specials, Calvin Harris, Seasick Steve, Reverend & The Makers, The Enemy and Gallows, The Bays & Twisted Wheel.

The Super Furry Animals are the most creative of the contemporary Welsh bands, and undoubtedly Wales’ biggest rock export that manage to successfully blend classic songwriting with often breathtaking experimentation. Causing a quiet revolution can’t be easy for the 5 piece but SFA have all but managed it without ever breaking through the musical mainstream, and this unique approach to music is what has kept them at the top of their game. Having released their latest studio album ‘Dark Days/Light Years’ earlier this year, this will be one of the band’s first indoor performances of their new material having stated in March that they had “been waiting for the right venue & technology to harness their new ‘epic’ sound”. SFA have specifically chosen Nation's ‘Courtyard’ for this very special Liverpool Music Week show: their first appearance here since their last sell out tour in 2007. Tickets for this event go on sale at 9am on Friday 18th September.

Meanwhile we are pleased to announce 2 more acts for this year's stellar line-up, the UK’s premier soul/funk band The Brand New Heavies will perform an incredible intimate show at The Masque Theatre on Monday 3rd November with all of their original band members, including front woman N'Dea Davenport. Also confirmed are Soft Toy Emergency who will be performing a special Halloween party as part of LMW. One of the cities hottest properties right now, the band have been gaining support from Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, BBC6 Music’s Steve Lamacq and XFM’s John Kennedy. They will be performing on Saturday 31st October at O2 Academy.

In addition we are also pleased to announce General Fiasco and Akeal as support for The Enemy @ Liverpool Uni on 8th November.

The rumour mill is hotting up on the streets for the festival’s free music agenda which will be announced over the coming weeks. These events take place across dozens of Liverpool’s city-centre venues and are the heart beat of the festival.

Liverpool Music Week began in 2003 and over the last 7 years has gone onto become a nationally recognised event and highlight of the music calendar. Resulting in Liverpool Music Week becoming the UK’s biggest indoor winter music festival, a musical showcase that features big name acts and gives a performance platform for fresh emerging talent, a number of which have gone on to reach nationwide success.

Last years event attracted a record breaking 55,000 people to the city and is a combination of free and ticketed shows. 2008 hosted over 80 events, across 26 venues, featuring over 300 live acts, and the winning format returns in 2009.
