Meanwhile Mercury Music Prize nominee Lisa Hannigan returns to Ireland in December to play a very special show in Vicar Street, Dublin on December 3rd.
Having started her singing career at the age of 6 as the fairy on top of the Christmas tree in the school play, the first record that Lisa ever bought was Michael Jackson's 'Bad'. Although in those days it was called a tape. She sang and danced along until the tape wore out, not only improving her singing but also affirming her lifelong dedication to the art of uncoordinated dancing, believing strongly in the scientific correlation between the amount of fun had to the stupidity of the dance moves.
A chance meeting with singer songwriter Damien Rice led to a long period of collaboration and development. Lisa spent the next few years touring the world, meeting wonderful musicians and friends, writing songs, forgetting then remembering how to ride a bike, contributing backing vocals for The Frames and Mic Christopher, singing with the legendary Herbie Hancock and gradually finding her own voice with her 2008 debut album 'Sea Sew' spawning the hit single 'Lille', a Choice Music Prize nomination, two Meteor Music Awards nominations and a Mercury Prize nomination.
There has also been praise from fellow musicians and, in recent times, Jools Holland of the United Kingdom and US television hosts Jay Leno and Stephen Colbert, the latter of whom is not renowned for his endorsement of musicians.
Lisa Hannigan performs Live @ Vicar St. December 3rd. Tickets are €25 on sale Monday October 20th @ 9am through Ticketmaster and other usual outlets nationwide. Booking Line: 0818 719 390.
