Seasick Steve To Play At Liverpool Music Week

It has been announced that Seasick Steve will perform at this years Liverpool Music Week festival. The world renowned ‘american bluesman’ will perform at Liverpool Olympia Theatre on Saturday 7th November.

The legendary Seasick Steve aka Steven Gene Wold, was born in Oakland, California in 1941, he is an artiste in every sense of the word, famous for his unique guitar playing and story telling ability through his music referring to his early life living rough. His fans have included the likes of Janis Joplin and Joni Mitchell, which should give you some indication of this man’s extraordinary musical talent. In 2009 he was nominated for a Brit Award as ‘International Solo Male Artist’. Following the success of his last 2 sell out tours, we urge people to buy their tickets early. Tickets on sale from 9am Wednesday 9th September.

Other acts to have already been announced for Liverpool Music Week are Kasabian, The Specials, Reverend And The Makers, The Enemy and The Gallows.

Also announced are the first acts for the free festival, and the first venue partnership of 2009. The Masque Theatre has undergone major refurbishment, and has been restored to its former glory, and will be one of the main venues at the heart of LMW’s festival activities. The free festival takes place across dozens of Liverpool’s city-centre venues and we will announce further venue partnerships & acts over the next couple of weeks.

Improv geniuses – The Bays will perform a free show at the Masque Theatre on Friday 13th November and will be their first Liverpool performance since their collaboration with Heritage Orchestra at Philharmonic Hall. The Bays are all about improvised live performances, they never rehearse, they don’t have a set-list and they couldn’t ever do the same performance twice. It’s all about the moment – an experience or an event that exists between the band and the audience for one time only, to see their first Liverpool solo performance free will be a treat for all LMW fans.

Another act confirmed for the free shows is Manchester indie rockers Twisted Wheel who also play The Masque Theatre on 6th November. The trio have quickly earned themselves a reputation as one of the hardest working touring bands around, completing several headline tours across the UK, performing with the likes of Oasis, Paul Weller and Ian Brown.

Liverpool Music Week is the UK’s biggest indoor winter music festival, hosting over 80 events across 20 city centre venues and featuring over 300 live acts. The festival which is now in its 7th Year brings together some of the UK’s hottest acts and offers fresh and emerging talent a platform to perform.
