This weekend sees V festival take place, with commercial acts like McFly, Taylor Swift and Will young combined with good old indie favourites such as The Killers, Oasis, Biffy Clyro and James.
I've heard through the grapevine that this year acts wanted all the ‘celebs’ banned from going back stage, as the backstage area should be for the bands only. I hope this is true, I mean rightly so if I was a superstar rock goddess I wouldn’t want all the wannabes hanging around me either. A bunch of useless z –list celebs who are as thick as pig shit trying to get in on the act. Ban them all I say. That reminds me I watched the most god awful TV programme last night called ‘Rock of Love’. The concept being that Bret Michaels of cock rock band Poison is looking for a girlfriend, so 15 women who look like $5 hookers compete to be his girlfriend. It’s so degrading, I mean how low would you have to be to firstly, want to go out with Bret Michaels and secondly, chase a man. All I can say is you're women not dogs so don’t chase things. Also it’s broadcast on national television just for extra humiliation. I cringe just thinking about this programme, wow Bret Michaels was wearing more make up than the women. However, I’m definitely going to watch it again next week because it is just pure hideous car crash television, fabulous.
Anyway I digress, the point being V Festival is pretty eclectic, a something for everyone kind of festival. They have the run of the mill mundane bands like Razorlight for people who don’t like music. There’s a bit of pop in the form of McFly and The Saturdays for the teeny boppers. Then there are the established headline favourites like The Killers and Oasis alongside more alternative bright new acts like VV Brown, Wallis Bird and Howling Bells. Then there is the absolute gem in the crown James. James are a must see band, they are so underrated it’s not true. They write some of the most beautiful soul capturing lyrics I’ve heard. So if you’re at V Festival this weekend make James your must see band.
On the website this week we have lots of exciting stuff as always. Although, due to the website currently undergoing a make- over you may have to look a little harder to find reviews, videos and featured gigs. All you need to do for the time being is browse around the website or scroll right down to the bottom of the homepage to the sitemap. This way you will be able to find all the hot new videos including Shakira’s raunchy new offering and interviews with Noise Control and Sound Of Guns. Mark Morriss, Deaf Havana and Goldie Lookin’ Chain are this week’s Glasswerk featured gigs.
