Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced that their two-year hiatus will come to an end.
Chad Smith (drummer) said that the band will meet up in October to write material for a new album.
Speaking to Billboard, he said, “That’s the plan. It’ll be two years in September, so now we’re ready. You can’t force people to play when they don’t want to play or aren’t ready to play or whatever. Not in our band, anyway.”
Although the group have not devised a specific plan for the sessions, Smith said that they would “do a lot of improvising and jamming and songs will come out of that. That’s what we usually do. I don’t know why it would be any different.”
