One person has been killed and 15 others injured after a stage collapsed at the Big Valley Jamboree in Alberta on Saturday night.
The disaster was caused by “hurricane like” weather, involving 60mph winds and heavy rain.
It has been rumoured that festival organisers were aware of the impending thunderstorm but failed to tell festival-goers.
Festival organiser, Larry Werner, spoke of the tragedy, “We are deeply saddened by the events of Saturday night. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the families, fans and friends of those impacted by this incident.”
The festival has been running since 1992, and can attract up to 100, 000 fans during the four days.
This years event was cut short by the incident, and the last day was cancelled.
