Hotter Than July: Hot 8 Brass Band Are Back

After last years epic Whelan's showcase, Choice Cuts have announced the return of New Orleans finest: The Hot 8 Brass Band.

The ten members of the Hot 8 Brass Band are all from New Orleans and formed in 1995, having played in second line parades hosted by Social Aid and Pleasure Clubs in the New Orleans Metropolitan Area. They recently appeared in Spike Lee’s poignant documentary ‘When the Levees Broke'. Because of this appearance a new legion of fans caught onto the band's mix of traditional marching music, hip hop, and R&B.

The Hot 8 are also part of anti violence campaigns (tragically 2 members have died violent deaths) and use their vibrant, energetic music to project this message.

The Hot 8 Brass Band are playing Whelans Saturday July 11th. Tickets are priced €20 and available now from Ticketmaster. Doors open 8pm.
