This weekend, SONISPHERE kicked off this summer’s European tour in Nijmegen, Holland, where METALLICA, KORN and SLIPKNOT blew away the tens of thousands of rampant Dutch metal-heads.
At the end of one of his trademark solos, KORN bassist Fieldy Arvizu was clearly heard to shout out: “Perfect, just perfect!”. This seemed to sum up the day’s activities with all of the bands on the bill working the crowd up into an overwhelming frenzy.
Fans got the chance to take to the main stage and belt out headliners METALLICA’s Enter Sandman thanks to their Guitar Hero skills. This unique opportunity to rock out on the same stage as Metallica is going to be open to all wanna-be rock gods at all Sonisphere Festivals through out the summer.
So one down, five equally exciting shows to go with Germany next on the agenda. ANTHRAX, THE PRODIGY and local favourites DIE TOTEN HOSEN will be on board for that one. METALLICA, MACHINE HEAD, DOWN and LAMB OF GOD will be back again as well.
We can only let the excitment build here before the festival arrives in the UK at the beginning of August.
FEAR FACTORY have sadly had to pull out of all of their summer gigs, including SONISPHERE’S UK date at Knebworth. Perhaps someone should tap the shoulder of Korn.
