Paul McCartney's childrens story to be made into film

One of the children’s books written by Sir Paul McCartney is going to be adapted for the big screen.

The story, ‘High in the Clouds’, which was published in 2005, tells the tale of Wirral the Squirrel and his search for an animal sanctuary. The story was co written by Philip Ardagh and illustrated by Geoff Dunbar.

McCartney is to score the soundtrack to the film, which is still in development. This follows previous song contributions to films from the former Beatle, such as 'Live and Let Die' for the 1973 James Bond film and the title track of 2001's 'Vanilla Sky' soundtrack.

Michael Lynne, producer of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and part of the team bringing the project to life, said: “Paul said he would commit a score of original songs as part of it.”

This will be Sir Paul's biggest involvement in a major animation since The Beatles' Yellow Submarine in 1968, when he was one of the main stars of the film.
