Blur played their ‘secret’ show at Rough Trade East record shop last night.
The bands have reformed for a series of high profile gigs this summer, such as an appearance at Glastonbury and two nights in Hyde Park.
Daman Albarn said from the stage that, “We're only just getting started really but it's been a lot of fun so far”, explaining that the smaller shows such as last nights gig, and their live show on Saturday night at the East Anglian Railway Museum, have been helping the band prepare for the bigger shows this summer.
Last night the band played some of their hits, such as Song 2, For Tomorrow and She's So High.
The full set list was as follows:
She's So High
Girls & Boys
Advert
For Tomorrow
End Of A Century
Beetlebum
Coffee & TV
Tender
Out Of Time
Popscene
Song 2
Parklife
This Is A Low
The band recently defended allegations that the reformation is financially motivated.
Coxon said: “I think money has to be talked about at some time or another, but initially it wasn't much to do with it.
“I thought we deserved, as friends, to have a positive chapter in the Blur story – so even if it was the last one, to make it a nice one – for the fans, for us, for whoever.”
Rowntree said: “If it was a question of making a few quid. I'm sure we're all capable of doing that without having to go through what could have potentially been an awful and humiliating experience.
“I don't think that's a particularly good motivation for doing what we're doing. I'd rather be poor.”
Albarn said: “The main thing is that it's really nice to know that I can call Graham and he'll pick up the phone, and it's all cool, you know?”
Blur are next scheduled to play at London’s Goldsmiths College on Monday 22nd June.
