Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse pleaded not guilty to assault at Westminster Magistrates Court yesterday morning. As previously reported, Winehouse is accused of assaulting Sherene Flash at a charity ball in Berkley Square, Westminster last September.

After she arrived late, the singer's lawyer, Mark Haslam, apologised on her behalf, assuring District Judge Timothy Workman that she had left her house at 8.15am but had been delayed in transit. Winehouse then gave her legal name (at least at the moment), Amy Jade Civil, and entered her plea of not guilty before fidgeting her way through the rest of the proceedings.

Asked how she was feeling as she wrestled her way through the waiting scrum of photographers Winehouse said: “I'm all right, thanks”.
