Continuing his meteoric rise to superstardom, Frank Turner can announce exciting details of his brand new forthcoming album and dates for his biggest headline tour for later in the year!
First up though Frank is playing at SXSW in Austin, Texas: 19th March he’ll be playing the Kerrang! Guitar Hero party in the afternoon and then the NME Showcase in the evening. On 20th he will play the Jail Guitar Doors – an initiative set up by Billy Bragg to put guitars into prisons, in memory of Clash frontman, Joe Strummer. He’ll then be travelling up the West Coast for a run of dates with pals Look Mexico.
Upon his return – attentions will be turned to his third studio album, ‘Poetry Of The Deed’, which will see Frank recruit his outstanding live band for the recording process and venture in a more rock direction. Honing their skills through a demanding touring schedule, the band has developed into an incredibly tight rock outfit, adding an extra dimension to some of Frank’s songs. Performing live has always been at the very heart of the Frank Turner experience and whilst he’ll still write all the songs, they will be recorded live to help bring that experience to the album.
Grammy nominated producer Alex Newport – who has previously worked with Death Cab For Cutie, At The Drive-In, Two Gallants – will be at the helm after contacting Frank directly asking if they could work together. The results will be undoubtedly, spectacular. Before they enter the studio Frank and the band will be road-testing the new material at 4 exclusives gigs in April at Oxford’s Wheatsheaf venue (April 28 and 29) and Cellar Bar venue (April 30 and May 1). Tickets for these gigs sold out within 2 days.
‘Poetry Of The Deed is scheduled for release in October coinciding nicely with a massive UK headline tour. Frank’s popularity is rising steadily and audiences have been growing in numbers each tour that he undertakes. Having just supported The Gaslight Anthem at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire, he returns to headline for the last night of the tour.
