Latitude is finally upon us. The festival gravy train rolls in to Suffolk on Thursday and the festivities will run late into Sunday night. The press hounds at Glasswerk are more than excited to bring you the very best in new music from home and abroad mixed with stellar performances from some of the world's best bands, comedians, authors and poets.
The Guillemots – pictured – will be one of the busier bands at Henham Park.
The band have rescored David Lynch’s classic feature film Eraserhead, which achieved a cult following when it was released in 1979. To celebrate the band is indulging in a groundbreaking event at Latitude where they will perform the improvised score on Friday night as part of the Future Cinema Live event. Their set is going to be combined with some crazy dancers to create a live music/exciting visual installation combo for festival goers. Guillemots will resume normal service on Saturday when they play the Uncut Arena.
Come back to the Glasswerk pages for up-to-the-minute news and reviews live from the completely sold out Latitude. Any festival that can follow the deep darkness of Murder By Death and Micah P. Hinson with the good times of the Go! Team and The Aliens all on day one is damn special. Weekend performances from Sigor Ros, Joanna Newsom, Glasvegas, Blondie, Tindersticks and Grinderman may even top that.
We're itching to see some of the UK's most interesting new bands. Look out for the impossibly beautiful voiced Nic Dawson Kelly, and the immense talents of London's quirkiest new boys Noah And The Whale and Swanton Bombs. Some real hidden treats will come from the Music and Film Arena where punk survivors Barry Adamson and The Buzzcocks perform late into the night. Mark Lamarr introduces the latter as well as another voice to end all – Eli 'Paperboy' Reed and the True Loves. After a Thomas Tantrum lie back to the poetic verse of Simon Armitage and Irvine Welsh and put on a smirk as the Comedy Arena gives us the most unimpressed, sarcastic merchants from Bill Bailey to Rich Hall.
