Hot Club de Paris release Xmas Single and Announce 2nd Album Title

Hot Club de Paris ended their bout of non-stop touring at the start of summer 2007 in order to write their follow up to critically acclaimed 2006 debut, ‘Drop It 'Til It Pops’ ( Moshi Moshi). After 3 months of writing, reading, looking and listening in their hometown, the Liverpool trio jumbo jetted it straight to Chicago to record at Engine Studios with producer Brian Deck ( Modest Mouse, Iron and wine, Chin up Chin up etc).

Their first offering from forthcoming second album 'Live at Dead Lake' is 'Will you still be in love with me next year?' – Hot Clubs bold and ambitious attempt at the classic Christmas single format. They spin a yuletide yarn of two lovers arguing on a crowded dancefloor,

“The best Christmas songs are melancholy and sad. For better or worse Christmas is a time when you cant help but reflect and attempt to figure out what your doing with your future. That's what we did with this song”.

Bordering on the orchestral in parts, the song builds throughout ending on a sleigh bell laden crescendo that sums up what Christmas can often be; a true celebration of sadness and fresh hope that comes with the season.

The B side is an acoustic version of The Clash's ‘Straight to Hell’. Paul has been singing it for years so they figured it was time to commit his version to tape. “It’s a jaw droopingly awesome song and is always a pleasure to sing”. Its melancholic and wistful undertones are a perfect accompaniment to the A-side.

You can download the single from Dec 17th and will be available on 7” only on Christmas Eve. Label: Moshi Moshi Records

Do 7”’s fit in a stocking?
