The Hidden Treasure Of The UK’s Music Scene
The Stables in Milton Keynes has been renovated from a dilapidated building, into a state of the art venue. Now, the 400 seat, £4.4 million auditorium has launched ‘Stage 2’, a £1.1 million intimate performance space.
Aimed at up and coming artists, the venue boasts 270 concerts a year attracting a myriad of artists from rock, jazz, folk and more.
A key initiative that The Stables offers is an educational workshop that runs 250 times a year, which encourages people of all ages and levels of ability to create music. There is also a state of the art studio that is utilised offering courses in music technology aswell as the chance for artists to record a demo CD on site. Stars such as Guy Chambers, Dominic Miller, Tommy Smith, Christian Garrick and Nikki Isles have benefited from the facilities on offer.
The venue now attracts over 100,000 visitors a year and with a history that includes performances from Sir Bob Geldof, Joan Armatrading, Bill Wyman and Jools Holland, that number is certain to increase as the new ‘Stage 2’ is gradually discovered by the gig-going public.
