Brouhaha Closing Weekend Carnival

The final weekend of Brouhaha is upon us, so it’s time for a quick run-down of what’s in store.

First up is the Liverpool International Carnival, the largest multicultural parade in the region. The procession starts midday Saturday 4th on Myrtle Street, outside the Liverpool Community College. The third instalment of ‘Dance of a Free Spirit: Resistance, Rebellion and Abolition’ marks 2007 as the bicentenary of the abolition of slavery in Britain. The event will see around 1800 costumed participants, both local and national.

The carnival procession dances its way into the heart of Toxteth until it reaches The World in Princes Park at 2pm, where the party is just beginning. It is set to be an all day celebration of diversity, with performances from local, national and international groups from across the globe.

Liverpool Mela will also be in Princes Park from 12-5pm, presenting a multicultural display of local and international performance work, including a new showcase by refugee and asylum groups from Solar Arts.
