The Man Of Steel First Look

So here he is. the new Superman. Doesn’t look quite so friendly here, but we can assume this is in the middle of a badass moment.

The guy is Henry Cavill. Some of you may know him from Brit-period costume television. I on the other hand know him from Yank-period costume movie The Count Of Monte Cristo (playing Jim Caviezel’s son).

The Costume itself is familiar – although it looks like he may have borrowed some blue materials from Spider-man, some plastic for his shield, and some daper-dan from George Clooney.

Still the upsides of this film are great. Just check out the cast names:

Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as the Kent.
Russell Crowe and Julia Ormond as his biological on Krypton.
Michael Shannon as fellow Kryptonian General Zod.
Amy Adams as Lois Lane
Laurence Fishburne as Perry White.

Christopher Nolan is on board as producer. He’s worked away at the script with his brother, Jonathan and David S. Goyer (all oviously worked on the Batman Series as well).

The downside: Just the director. But then that could be a good one. Zack Snyder we know is capable of delivering a great film, but he seems adamant on pulling some of his work down with inferior effects and editing – like the Michael Bay of the cartoon world for adults. So this one could have great performances but look a bit shitty, or it could have much of the gold from the performances stripped out and mis-paced.

We remain confident that with Nolan on board “Godfathering” the project we are going to be in for soemthing original, entertaining and potentially breathtaking. We live in hope.

The Man of Steel is out next year.
