The Grammy nominated single 'Colony of Birchman' is released March 12th on Warner Bros. Records, the third single to be taken from their all-conquering third album and Warner Bros. Records debut Blood Mountain.
Colony of Birchman follows the renowned Mastodon blueprint of blending fierce riffage with technical complexity and features a guest appearance courtesy of Queen of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme.
Blood Mountain was heralded in the press as one of the most vital moments in contemporary metal with glowing praise coming courtesy of Bass Player, Big Cheese, Classic Rock, Guitarist, The Independent, Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, NME, Observer Music Monthly, Plan B, Rock Sound, Glasswerk, Terrorizer, The Times, Total Guitar and Uncut. Such widespread media praise ensured that Blood Mountain was named in third place in HMV’s 2006 Poll of Polls ahead of the Arctic Monkeys and Lily Allen.
Aside from the Tool tour and sold-out headline shows of their own, Mastodon also performed their biggest UK festival shows to date with main stage appearances at Reading and Leeds.
Mastodon will return to the UK to play the following dates:

5th – Wolverhampton, Wulfrun Hall
6th – Sheffield, Corporation
7th – Glasgow, ABC

12th – Manchester, Academy 2
