IDLEWILD return after almost two years absence with a sold out UK club tour, where the band will preview material from their new album ‘Make Another World’ set for release in February 2007 on Sequel. The album shows a return to the bands rock (ish) roots, whilst retaining their fiercely melodic side and talent for supremely catchy hooks.
The band last toured the UK in 2005 to coincide with the release of ‘Warnings/Promises’ and then vocalist Roddy Woomble took a break to record his solo album ‘My Secret Is My Silence’ – which received fantastic reviews across the press. After touring for this, the band got back together – with the addition of new bassist Gareth Russell – and recorded the new album in Edinburgh with long time collaborator producer Dave Eringa in the late summer of 2006.
‘Make Another World’ (which the band resisted naming Outkast in a tit for tat move) is the sound of a band at their peak. The album features 10 tracks of classic Scottish guitar pop – Idlewild have taken the best bits of their history and created a stunningly original album, which showcases their unique sound, topped by Woomble’s inimitable vocals.
To coincide with the club shows, Sequel will release a very limited one-sided 7” only single (750 copies)/download featuring new album track ‘If It Takes You Home’. However, fans will be able to download the track free for the duration of the tour from the bands website (link). This will be followed in the New Year with a chart eligible release.
