Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. – New Video

‘War Of The Worlds’

New single released on 27th November / Atlantic Records

Having released his debut album ‘The Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager’ to a glowing critical reception, 20 year old half-Burmese, Southend-born Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly (aka Sam Duckworth to his friends) will release his emphatic new single ‘The War Of The Worlds’ on 27th November.

In Sam’s own words, “the song’s based around the idea of relationships. It’s a real journey when you spend a lot of time with people and you get really close to them and lock yourself into this weird kind of co-dependency. It’s about breaking down that barrier and saying “what’s changed? And why has it changed?”” The single also features a video from acclaimed director Sam Brown who’s famed for his work with James Blunt, Doves and Corrine Bailey-Ray amongst others.

‘War Of The Worlds’ will be available on CD and two 7” coloured vinyl and will feature brand new b-sides and a remix from Hot Chip. The 7”s will also contain two free postcards of art by Jordan Islip who’s work has featured on the covers previous Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly releases. The formats are as follows:

While his last single (‘The Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager (Part 1)’ went top 40 and his self produced debut album sat in the upper echelons of the album charts, Duckworth has continued to do what he’s always done – travelling the country playing shows and making new friends, this time with an expanded line up that now includes live drums and trumpet.

He’s currently halfway through a sold out, 28 date UK headline tour that takes in the kind of places other tours can’t reach. Having already wowed crowds with sold out shows everywhere from Yeovil, Merthyr Tydvyll and The Isle Of Man to storming festival-highlight performances at the Reading and Leeds Festivals, the tour continues with gigs in Goole, Penzance and a host of more ‘conventional’ tour towns.

The Get Cape live assault will continue to gather momentum through into 2007 as he announces more high profile shows and his biggest headline tour to date. Firstly, he’s been confirmed to support The Flaming Lips in Bournemouth on 5th November and will appear at the BBC’s Electric Proms on 25th October. Sam is also pleased to be playing a gig with The Kooks and Plan B as part of “The Little Noise Sessions’. Curated by Jo Whiley and with proceeds benefiting Mencap, the series of gigs will also feature performances from the likes of Noel Gallagher, The Guillemots, Lily Allen, The View and James Morrison.

A freshly announced January headline tour will then include Get Cape’s biggest shows to date, including a headline gig at London’s legendary Astoria. Tickets are on sale now.
