Liverpool Musicweek

In it’s fourth year now. Liverpool Music Week is a week of parties and a real Rock ‘n’ Roll carnival.

The organizers this year (and every year) advise that you practice your ‘sick voice’ for the phone call to work!

Starting 4th November and finishing on the 13th. Liverpool Music Week now runs for ten days…and a long ten days it plans to be! Barring alien invasion, the departure of the Liver birds or a national curfew of 3pm, this will be the biggest music ‘festival’ in the city this year (…‘cos Creamfields is in Cheshire now.)

18,000 people attended last year. This year’s anticipated turnout is 26,000 and it’s all free!

Biggest local bands playing? Hot Club De Paris? 747’s? Or is it Shack? The focus for most people, however, is not the big name headliners coming to town, but that rough, raw and ready to explode talent that Liverpool has on offer all year round and that comes together for a massive showcase every year. It hardly seems like a year since the last one which saw John Power and The Kooks play awesome sets that were matched by lots of local gems who played.

Held across town in: Barfly, Bumper, Carling Academy, Cotton Club, FACT, Bar Fresa, Student Guild, Hannahs, Korova, Magnet, Metropolitan, Philharmonic, Static Gallery and Zanzibar. That’s 15 venues!

Artists too many too mention… started to count but lost it at 100 bands! 100 bands!! So here’s a run down quick list of personal favourites: Go!

28 Costumes – Peter & The Wolf – Ambulance – apatt – The Laze – Whiskycats – John Smith – Multi Purpose Chemical – The Most Terrifying Thing – Metro Manila Aide – JI – That F*****g Tank – The Sillouhettes and Alterkicks

It’s actually 200 bands, 39 shows and 16 venues! It’s very huge!
Say “I was there in 2006”
