Glasswerk Goes Fourth – Glasgow and South Coast

It’s only been four short years since life was breathed into the music Frankenstein that is Glasswerk. November 1st is Glasswerk's 4th Birthday.

From humble beginnings in a dank and musty launch party in the backstreets of Liverpool, with fetid food served on wobbly paper plates and dodgy sound dogging four struggling bands – to sell out shows with the likes of Dogs Die in Hot Cars, Eighties Matchbox B-line Disaster, Arctic Monkeys, Art Brut, Misty’s Big Adventure, Haven, Mark Morris (Bluetones), Ginger (Wildhearts), The Holiday Plan….. it goes on and on and on and on.

However this is not the whole story. From the scratchings of a humble, home-made website that looked like it was cobbled together by Stevie Wonder, to a megalith of a site that stretches around the UK and back up again with regional sites in London, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Nottingham and Wales. Containing within it vast amounts of important music musings on grass roots, up and coming, breaking and established artists. Reviews, News and Interviews; profile pages, MP3s, videos and, because they love da' music, unbiased gig listings from right across the board.

Hundreds of contributors and a vast network of promoting staff, means that Glasswerk is always first in line for spotting the next ‘big thing’.

Now to celebrate this coming of age, Glasswerk are proud to announce the addition of two more regional sites. Ever advancing towards total UK coverage Glasswerk Glasgow and Glasswerk South Coast are born.

Andy Inglis (Glasgow Editor) states,

‘Being the third largest city in the UK, it’s no wonder that Glasgow is a thriving hub of emerging musical talent. It has nurtured bands like Snow Patrol and Franz Ferdinand in their formative years and helped launch them onto the world stage – as with more recent breakthrough acts like El Presidente and Dogs Die In Hot Cars. Not forgetting Oasis of course, discovered by a much younger Alan McGee in the legendary King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut all those moons ago. What makes Glasgow so special? Why, the ever appreciative music-mad populous of course – together with a burgeoning home grown music scene! Standing as a Mecca for many national bands (often being the highlight of their tour), Glasswerk are proud to be involved in such a community and hope to help many of Glasgow’s fine acts on their way to success.’

While Elaine Hills-Haney (South Coast Editor) remarks,

‘As home to musical visionaries such as Fatboy Slim and Nick Cave, the south coast has a reputation as a hotbed of musical talent.

In recent years its eclectic music scene has brought us Electrelane, British Sea Power and Electric Soft Parade. And two current tips for the top hail from the south coast – 60esque all girl trio the Pippettes and the belligerent Brakes.

Brighton, Southampton, Portsmouth and Worthing all have thriving scenes, top venues and a host of talent that can't be ignored.’

Launching on the 1st November these sites will provide welcome additional coverage to those at opposite ends of the country. Check back on the 1st November for the grand unveiling.
