“Performance makes me pine for the old days of New Order” Peter Hook
Performance set off on tour to a UK tour in September to coincide with the release of their new single ‘Surrender’, their first release since signing to their new label Polydor.
One of the most exciting live bands around, Performance have toured the UK with the likes of Bryan Ferry and Pink Grease and this summer saw them play stunning sets at Homelands, Wireless and Reading Festival.
‘Surrender’ is released on November the 7th and is the follow up to the limited edition singles, ‘Love Life’ and their debut ‘Dotted Line’ which were both released on Guilty Feet Recordings. The new single, recorded at Real World studios with producer Cliff Jones, is edgy, future perfect, electronic pop at its very best.
Formed in Manchester in 2003, Performance feature a line up of Joe Stretch; vocals, Joe Cross; keyboards and sisters Laura Marsden: guitar and Billie Marsden; keyboards. Inspired by boredom and a mutual love of New Order, Depeche Mode, The Velvet Underground and Abba, Performance played their first gig at Manchester’s Big Hands and quickly built up local admiration, including Peter Hook who likens them to early New Order.
Performances are currently in the studio putting the finishing touches to their debut album which is set for release in 2006.
