Bestival 2005’s magnificent success has resulted in a coup for those in the know; a brilliant Early Bird deal on next year’s tickets for a limited period only.
This year’s event has once again become a favourite of the festival season. A fantastic finally to a great summer – smiles, joy and laughter all round. Among the many highlights from the weekend was the achievement of breaking the record for the World’s Biggest Fancy Dress Party, with the Guinness Book of Records recording a whopping 10,898 people contributing to the merriment. Bez packed out the ‘not so hidden anymore’ Hidden Disco while the Isle of Wight Youth Choir sung their hearts out to White Stripes’ covers. The hilarious Cuban Brothers performed with a live 8-piece band for the first time on the main stage in advance of their forthcoming album. This led to Cuban Brother Russell covering for Fabio & Grooverider drum ‘n’ bass style while they got lost for 2 ½ hours driving round the island! With The Ashes being shown on the big screen, and Howard Marks DJing before the Super Furry Animals closed Sunday night, this year’s Bestival has been the perfect end to a great British summer festival season.
Next year’s festival will take place on 8, 9 & 10 September. A weekend camping ticket will be available at a reduced rate of £75 (£50 for Isle of Wight residents). The tickets will go on sale on Monday 12th September 2005; straight after the groundbreaking Bestival festival has drawn to a close.
